j-so Poetry uses the Dagara Cosmology Wheel with permission from Dr. Malidoma Patrice Somé—a world-renowned Dagara Elder, Diviner, Author, and Teacher of Indigenous Technologies from West Africa.  Dr. Somé was born in a Dagara community in Burkina Faso and holds two PhDs and three Master’s Degrees.

 

Janis Omide was very moved by the beauty and meaning of the Dagara Cosmology Wheel as Dr. Somé explains in his book, THE HEALING WISDOM OF AFRICA: Finding Life Purpose through Nature, Ritual and Community. 

 

While attending one of Dr. Somé’s workshops (in Asheville, North Carolina—2005), Janis asked him if she could use the Dagara Cosmology Wheel—that was used in his book—with some of her projects; and he graciously granted permission.
